Rodrigo Acevedo
The Ironman triathlon is considered the more demanding physical evidence exists. Now a 23 year old Bogota becomes part of the history of this legendary competition. Rodrigo Acevedo just won the Ironman 70.3 world title in the category of 18 to 24 years in Clearwater, Florida. Most surprising is that with only 18 months of training Rodrigo set a new world record for all age categories, which involved 1,800 people. In three hours, 51 minutes and 36 seconds completed the 70.3 miles that include endurance and speed swimming, cycling and marathon. To make matters worse, a month before Hawaii, the Ironman World complete 140.6 miles, won third place in its category. "I played soccer and tennis but I had never measured anything so hard," said Rodrigo, who suspended his architectural studies in California to train with Siri Lindley, a prominent American athlete, winner of world championships. "He practices 10 hours a day, and took blood, sweat and tears." Now Rodrigo is contemplating settling in the United States to continue its process and compete in the professional category.
