Colorado's Top Athletes & Coaches Launch Statewide Fitness Campaign

January 2005 • Two years ago, a popular health and fitness magazine ranked Colorado Springs and Denver as the two fittest cities in the nation respectively. Last year, the magazine dropped Colorado Springs to #3 and Denver to #7.

Now, several of the state's most respected athletes and coaches have joined forces in a statewide fitness campaign to motivate citizens to become more fit.

"We are very proud of our status as one of the healthiest and fittest states in the nation," said Dave Scott of Boulder, the six-time champion of the Ironman Triathlon World Championship. "We not only want to reclaim the top two positions in the rankings, but we want other cities throughout the state to crack the top-10 and in the process make everyone more fit"

In addition to Scott, several prominent Colorado athletes and coaches are participating in the effort to shape up Colorado, including Colorado Avalanche Strength and Conditioning Coach Paul Goldberg, former World Triathlon Champion Siri Lindley, three-time national cycling champion Kim Bruckner and Andy Pruitt, Director of Boulder Center for Sports Medicine.

Additionally, America's Marathon Man Jerry Dunn ran a marathon a day for 20 consecutive days in an effort to take message of physical fitness to the streets. Dunn ran through cities and towns from Fort Collins to Pueblo encouraging the state's residents to get fit and join him by running or walking anywhere from one mile to 26.

Along with information about regular exercise, some of Colorado's best athletes provided tips on rapid hydration plus the added benefits of utilizing all-natural protein to re-energize muscles during, and later help muscles recover after, exercise.

ACCELERADE was born in Colorado and is ready to take on a statewide fitness campaign.
