- The Loreen Miller Bike Ride 2007
- Siri was the celebrity rider at the Loreen Miller Bike Ride in Spokane, Washington on June 3rd. This ride raises money for Cancer Patient Care. This incredible group of people who help families in need. Families dealing with cancer, who are unable to pay for their treatments and continue supporting their families, pay their bills, get to their treatments, etc....This money goes direct to the families and is just an incredible support system for them during these extremely difficult times.
- Siri was absolutely honored to be a part of this year's ride. She raised a generous amount of money for the cause, and in doing so, realized a life long dream.
- Siri has longed to donate towards cancer, whether it be towards research, or directly to people having to deal with fighting the disease. This weekend was an incredible opportunity for Siri to do this. She had a fabulous time meeting all the incredible people within Cancer Patient Care, the community of Spokane and all the hundreds of supporters who lent their time, and money to help offer support to this important cause.
- Siri spent the weekend meeting people, riding with them during the ride, giving a couple speeches, and signing autographs and taking photos with everyone there.
The ride attracted over 500 riders and was supported by the entire community of Spokane.
Siri's good friend Greg Hansen joined in the fun, and was a tremendous addition to this inspiring weekend.
- Siri wants to thank the entire Spokane community, and Cancer Patient Care, for inviting her in, and welcoming her with such appreciation, love and enthusiasm.
- She hopes to always remain a part of this incredible family, and continue to offer support in the future.
"I just wanted to personally thank you for all you did for Cancer
Patient Care and our clients here in the area. I am still tallying the
money so I’m not ready to report that yet, but we did great!! You and
Greg are in our family now; you went right to my heart, just one of the
kids. You spoke from your heart and that is rare these days, I see
first hand everyday the difference your time here will make for our
clients and my heart soars. Let’s see how many times in one paragraph
can I mention heart. You can tell where I come from. I felt
confident putting you in Gene’s and Jon’s care. Gene has been my boy
from the get go, he is a special blessing to us all. We add you to our
HEART LIST now. Give Tyler and Haven a big hug and squeeze from Momma
Pam and I hope to see everyone again someday! I send some pics as soon
as I get them."

- March 21, 2007:
Hi Everyone,
- what a great training camp we have had here in Australia. I am so proud of all my Sirius athletes as they have been training harder than ever before and are all learning a ton, and reaching all new levels of performance. For me, as the coach, I always find this camp one of the most exciting times....just so great to watch my athletes push their limits, face their fears and put in the hard yards, all in determination of achieving their goals in this sport they love. They are learning a lot about themselves, about one another, and more and more about the sport, and all factors that must be considered to achieve optimum performance.
- Race week is upon us. We have 7 members of team Sirius racing up at Mooloolaba, on the sunshine coast. Mirinda Carfrae and Lauren Groves will be racing in the World Cup on sunday. Sarah Groff, Abi Bayley, Mary Miller, Mary Beth Ellis and Danielle Kehoe will all be racing the open elite race early sunday morning.
I unfortunately had to leave camp early for a family emergency. I was so sad to have to leave such an incredible camp, and especially right before this big race. But, I know my athletes will all make me proud by doing the very best that they can on race day, letting all their hard work, and the benefits they have earned from it, come to the surface!! Good Luck to all of them!!
I couldn't be prouder of them for the incredible work they have done over the last 8 weeks.
I am home in Colorado now, taking care of things at home. Most of my athletes will return back here to join me by early april.
- Best Wishes to everyone out there training and racing.
- Believe in yourself, take confidence in all the hard work you have done, and be relentless in finding your best effort to lead the way on race day.
- Siri:)
- March 21, 2007:
- The healthier and more effective approach to playing and winning is aligned with the TaoSport concept of "LETTING GO". Let go of the obsessive desire to produce or possess, and focus on the joy, the dance, the flow. Be in the moment, and feel victories now, as you play. According to Fred Rohe, author of the classic book, the ZEN OF RUNNING: from Thinking Body, Dancing Mind, by Chugliang Al Huang and Jerry Lynch
- "There are no standards and no possible victories except the joy you are living while dancing your run. In any life joy is only known in the moment - NOW!!
- So feel the flow of your dance and know you are not running for some future reward - the real reward is NOW!!!
- March 2, 2007:
- Sirius athlete's Australian training camp is in full swing at the Runaway Bay Sports Supercenter in Runaway Bay, Queensland. There are 8 athletes here with me at the moment: Lauren Groves, Sarah Groff, Mary Beth Ellis, Mirinda Cafrae, Mary Miller, Danielle Kehoe, Abi Bayley, and Yasmine White. All the athletes are working hard and loving it!! I am reminded everyday why I love my job so much. To watch these tremendous athletes, full of passion for the sport, and for achieving their dreams within it. To see them face their fears, push their limits and achieve new levels of fitness, strength and confidence, every single day, is so incredibly rewarding.
Five athletes raced in the Luke Harrop Memorial Triathon last weekend. Luke Harrop was killed on his bike in 2002. This race honors Luke and is a great chance for everyone to pay their respects to Luke and race in his memory. We used it as a hard training day. All my athletes went in having finished two very tough weeks of training - they were far from rested, but just excited to be a part of such a special event.
In the elite race Mirinda Cafrae came in 5th, Lauren Groves came in 8th, and Sarah Groff, 10th.
In the open race Abi Bailey Won, and Mary Miller came in 2nd.
Yasmine White raced, but unfortunatelly was forced to stop because she had a flat tire at the start of the bike.
So, it was a great weekend for all, and a wonderful way to celebrate Luke's life and honor the Harrop Family who were all there to continue this tradition of racing in Luke's name.
Loretta Harrop had her first race back after giving birth to son, Hayden, at the end of August. She was a true inspiration leading out the swim, riding most of the bike on her own, and finishing strong in 4th place. A great day for her considering her long break from the sport.
We all send big hello's from Australia. Wishing you all the very best. Train hard, train passionately and always appreciate the great things you achieve every single day in training.

- February 11, 2007:
- Hi Everyone,
- I wanted to write about an incredible opportunity I was given to speak at the Betty Marler Center for young women. A detention center in Lakewood, Co. for troubled youth. I was asked to speak in January. I just had this strong, amazing feeling that I was meant to do this, and that somehow, it was going to end up being very important to me. Not just very important, but literally, life changing.
- I went and gave my talk on the 30th of January. These young women/girls were incredibly welcoming to me. They are there because they have made some big mistakes in their lives. A lot of these mistakes were made because of the anger, hurt or despair they felt because of the very difficult circumstances that are their lives. I told them my story - very openly and honestly. The difficulties I had in my childhood - the anger, the fear that fueled my every action. It was a very sad way to live, and thank God, I had some mentors and some people in my life who were able to help me turn myself around. I am in such a different place now, with my main purpose in life, being living my life from a place of love, and not fear. Believing in myself, and loving myself, and being all that I am.
- I shared my whole story, and in it this message. They seemed to connect with me immediately. We quickly developed this unspoken understanding, compassion, respect, and love for each other. Yes, Love. I'm not kidding. By the time I finished my talk, I cared so much for each and every one of them. I could feel the passion they held inside, the passion, and hope, and dream to turn their lives around. To find the strength, the courage, and the belief in themselves to forgive the things they had done that they weren't proud of, to forgive those people in their lives that may have hurt them, or disappointed them, and to find the strength, the courage, and belief in themselves to move forward with hope, and with a dream and to be able to do all the work necessary to achieve all that they dream of inside their hearts. I felt a magic in the room that day. I felt such great purpose, and this deep knowing that my connecting with them, is a part of my destiny and something that I will commit to into the future. I not only wanted to make a difference on that day, but I want to make a difference continuously. To be a continual support for them, and a mentor... to not only help give them the ideas on how to turn their lives around, and to feel better about themselves, but to be there along the way, to ensure that they make it to that place that they dream of. That they never forget just how much I care about them.
- I went back to the Betty Marler Center yesterday, it was absolutely amazing. I was told that the director of the center had said, that in all her years working in her field, she has never seen kids connect with anyone like they seem to have with me. That was about the nicest compliment I have ever received. It meant the absolute world to me, I can't even articulate how special it feels to be with those girls. One of them, who has been in there for at least a year, got up and sang Mariah Carey's song "Hero". It was the most touching thing ever, she had the most incredibly beautiful voice. She said the song was for me, because I am her hero. The words are so powerful, and her singing it, with me in mind... my gosh, I couldn't hold back the tears.
- These kids were amazing, have such great potential. When I asked them to share their dreams, or their passions, they did... I could tell it wasn't easy to express it, in front of all the others, feeling vulnerable, and a bit afraid. But they did, and I found it so inspiring, so touching, so powerful. They all have dreams, and they are good dreams... of becoming singers, athletes, joining the military, doing construction, becoming therapists, artists, mechanics, advisors to kids that have the same addictions, or struggles that they have been through. Some talked of becoming doctors, or cosmotologists, or activists: fighting for causes important to them. Some, already mothers, talked of wanting to be the best mom in the world. To be there for their kids, and to make their kids proud of them. To ensure that they are given a better life, than the one they have struggled with themselves. It was so amazing, so powerful, so beautiful to see them speak from their hearts. I had to hold back my tears, not tears of sadness, but those of joy. Joy from knowing that somehow I had inspired them to look within, to find what was important to them and to have them speak their truth out loud, not only to me, but to everyone else in the room.
- I have such a strong feeling in my heart, that I was meant to connect with these girls and to be in their lives from this point forward, hopefully inspiring them, and giving them the belief in themselves to turn their lives around and find great happiness and peace. In their thank you notes to me they all thanked me for all that I brought them on that day I spoke to them. I wanted to write each and every one of them back, to say how thankful I was to them. For giving me the opportunity to speak to them, and to their being open to all that I was trying to say. For accepting me for all that I am, and finding great inspiration from my words. I wanted to thank them for giving me the opportunity to discover a deep longing I have inside, and that is, to be able to really make a difference in someone's life. Someone who has experienced deep pain, great turmoil, and incredible challenges. All these things leaving them with little hope, little confidence, and an enormous amount of fear and pain. To think that I somehow have helped to alleviate that pain, instill some belief and confidence in themselves, and to give them hope: hope that with hard work, and commitment, and belief in themselves, and in their dreams... they can improve their lives. They can find peace, they can find happiness, they can find love and stability. I know they will get there, I just know it. I felt it on both the days I was there. It won't be easy, and it will be a constant challenge. But, if they come to believe in themselves, as much as I believe in them in my heart... it will happen!!
- I am so thankful for the gift these girls have given me. I will never forget them, and will continue to work with them every chance I get.

- 10 February 2006:
- Hi Everyone,
- I am writing from the Runaway Bay Sports Supercenter in Runaway Bay,
Queensland, where I am holding a training camp for my athletes to
prepare for the 2006 triathlon season. This place is phenomenal, you
should check out the photos in the athlete's gallery section.
We have been here since the 7th of January and will stay until the 15th
of March.
- The athletes who have joined me here are Sarah Groff ( USA),
Australians: Mirinda Carfrae, and Jocelyn Pollock, Canadian: Lauren
Groves, and Brits: james hadley and michelle dillon.Johnny chapin and
jenny bodine, age groupers from Boulder, CO have also joined us. eager
to learn how the pros train and to get an extra step on their
competition in the coming year.
- Training has been great. The athletes are working hard and loving every
mninute of it. Well, they should be loving every minute of it, because
they are improving heaps and really getting strong! To me, that is fun,
although painful!
- The sun is out nearly everyday and the temperatures are HIGH!! It is
hot, hot, hot. but, we love it! 10 mins in the sun and you are burned to
a crisp, that is, if you forgot your suncscreen, as I have done, far
too many times. When I return home, I will look about 100 years old!!!
I will try not to think about that now, but, it will certainly inspire
me to be slopping on the sunscreen every 5 minutes from this point
forward.
- Big races coming up for some of the athletes:
- Hobart, which is an ITU Continental Cup race and a big race for the
Australian Series. Mirinda, Lauren and Sarah, will all be doing this
race. I will be heading down there to check the whole thing out and
watch my athletes celebrate all the hard work they have done thus far,
by racing hard, and giving it their all, and hopefully being rewarded
with a great finish at the end.
- The Luke Harrop Memorial race, this year, is the Australian Sprint
Championships: Sarah, Nirinda, Lauren, Michelle and James are all doing
this race, as is the rest of Australia. So, it should be a great day.
Most importantly, it is a race that honours my dear friend Luke Harrop
who was hit by a car on his bike and killed in 2002. Luke was a class act. One
of the most charming, caring and wonderfully fun men I have ever met.
He was a good friend, a great athlete, a wonderful human being, and I am
so thankful that they have a race to honour his life, which touched the
hearts of so many.
- On the 18th of March, the Commonwelath Games Triathlon will be
contested. An incredible event which Australia treats with as much
enthusiasm and anticipation as the Olympic Games.
- Then there is the Mooloolaba World Cup a couple weeks later. This is a
huge world cup with huge prize money, a very tough course, and great
competition, it is a great way to kick off the world cup season.
- I head home to Boulder on the 15th of March, and by that point, no
matter how much fun I have had here, and no matter how much we have
accomplished, I will go being so excited to see my family, my pets and
my friends once again. I have missed them while I have been here and
can't wait to share all of my experiences here, with them, upon my
return.
- I am so proud of my athletes out here. They have worked incredibly
hard and really are thriving out there in aussie land.
It has been a great experience for all, and has certainly got my
psyched for the season ahead!
- Happy training to you all,
- Siri
